Durban Horror Spoof Gains Recognition
27/07/10
A cheeky film about werewolves, journalists, corpses, Indians, and of course, Durban, has made its mark on the Durban International Film Festival. The irreverent comedy was written, produced, and directed by Durban resident Masood Boomgard, and premiered at the festival on July 25th. Sanjeev Singh, Director of Acquisition and Distribution of Videovision Entertainment announced that they were acquiring the film, which was also shot in Durban.
Attack of The Indian Werewolf is a spoof on werewolf and horror genres, which follows an electronics store clerk who transforms into a werewolf after eating the mystical 'jadoo bean'. The police are stymied as the corpses mount up and it is left to an intrepid journalist to try and cure the hapless werewolf. It stars popular local radio deejay Neville Pillay
Boomgard commented, "It is a privilege to be associated with Videovision Entertainment. They have a great track record as a production and distribution company. For us it is even more significant as they are a Durban-based company that is backing our film which was produced entirely in Durban with local actors and crew."
Attack of The Indian Werewolf is scheduled to be released later this year.
