Wakaberry Frozen Yoghurt Bar
Wakaberry claims they are in "the happiness business" and we tend to agree
If Moses had an eleventh commandment, it would read: "Thou shall visit Wakaberry Frozen Yoghurt Bar if you do not have a lactose intolerant problem." Situated in the uber-trendy Florida Road, Wakaberry is simply an assault on your taste buds - in a delicious way.
You are not eating frozen yoghurt, you are creating art. The process is simple, grab an eco-friendly bowl (it says so on the bowl) and head to one of three ATM-looking yoghurt dispensers. Each dispenser has three levers, containing two flavours and a combination of the flavours. I chose cherry. I heart cherry.
Your next move is the toppings counter. There are over 40 toppings such as crushed Oreos, different types of chocolates, sweets and sliced fruits. I added a spoonful of Astros, Sprinkles for colour and a touch of crushed Flake. Yummy!
Once you are done creating your frozen masterpiece, it's off to the cashier where you are charged R10 per a 100g irrespective off the choice of toppings or flavour of the yoghurt.
Now for the taste! Initially the cherry flavour was lost by the smothering of the toppings but it resurfaced as the yogurt was devoured. The flavours blended well, the individual tastes are distinct and you are left with the deep sense of satisfaction at becoming a gourmet chef. Jamie Oliver watch out!
Wakaberry has a spacious floor plan inside, with ample seating and a separate kiddies' playroom. It also has a street-view terrace which is perfect for warm summer's days.
P.S. Bring your laptop: Wakaberry has free Wi-Fi.
