What a makeover! The minds behind 'good old days' nightclub 330 took a dingy and dilapidated hotel in Umbilo (right above the Winston Pub, if that tells you anything) and turned it into Durban's hottest nightspot, with slick interiors, top-notch sound, the biggest parties around, and everyone and their uncle crowding in the door every weekend.

Origin plays it fast and loose, mixing up the genres and themes every weekend. Fridays are more predictable, with their regular 'Origin Fridays' hosting a slate of favourite local deejays. Saturdays are anybody's game though, when party crews and event organisers like I Heart Durban, NONONO!!!, or any number of international groups do their thing.

Origin is often the last club standing on weekends. One caveat though? there's no readmission. Shorts and sandals won't get you in the door, but R40 women and R80 for men will on Friday nights. Saturdays vary for entry price.
