The Barnyard Theatre is the same in Durban as it is in Johannesburg or Cape Town. The shows rotate from theatre to theatre over a period of years, sometimes taking cast members with them. Most of the shows are tributes to a chosen band or era, strung together by a loose plot: Sixties, eighties, Abba, Sinatra? the list goes on. Occasionally you'll see a musical like Grease or Rocky Horror Show. The shows are energetic, and staged well. The theatre itself is decorated with wood chips and picnic tables, giving it a casual vibe. Audience members are free to bring their own food to enjoy during the show, and there is a fully-stocked bar for drinks. Bookings can be made by calling the theatre, or via the Barnyard website. Safe parking is available in Gateway.
